my cobalt over heated badly!!!!!!!!!
now i need to know, could some of the internals been damaged from the heat? driving her to the dealership 2night she drove fine. but i didnt push it either. before when she was hot she was driving sluggish.
now this afternoon when i left work i did notice on my DIC that the coolant level rose very fast- i was surpised how fast it got hot. this morning she was fine.

2 things i fear from the dealership
a) they couldnt find the problem ( which i hear alot from the dealership )
b) there was no problem at the time they checked it

I'll place some bets on the coolant pump failing, thats the only thing that would make sense to me and its the only logical explanation at this time.
I think those guys are crazy. Thats where my car came from, and when my radio and A/C were having issues, the service manager said it was becaue I switched the stock light bulbs out. I mean, those are obviously different issues, and he just didn't want to help me. He said that my leaking headlight was becaue of switching out the bulb too. I called the GM number and told them how dissatisfied I was with the service, and the guy called me back the next day to say all of my parts were now on order. So if they give you the "oh, it's because of blah blah blah"....call up GM. I think Hampton Chevy is a bunch of BS.
i dont know if this could be it, but i had a problem with my older honda accord and it leaked a little fluid and when it did, it got air in the system which stopped fluid from flowing. So if I tried to turn on heat it would be cold, and the temperature would spike.

you need to have them check your cat. my car did that when my cat was clogged. you need to check your internals, mine were gone. they might say that it was driving abuse since you drove it hot. dont let them screw you.

anyway thanks guys for the help. after i heard it was the coon that did the damage, i was a little relieved because my faith in Chevy had dwinddled a bit!
btw, i didnt mention hitting the racoon to the dealership. at the time i didnt think it was the problem!
