Unhappy n00b question

Hello all... long time reader, brand new poster. i do however have a noob question, and I think this is the correct place to post the thread, however I could be wrong *wince* forgive me if this is the case.

Stupid question, I recently got a rock chip in my windshield while driving, which over the course of a couple hours of driving turned into a huge crack, stretching approx. 3/4 of the way across the windshield, and it needs to be replaced. I don't suppose there is a chance this is covered by the bumper to bumper warranty? if not, its gonna cost me $400 for a new one

Right on the money. A lot of insurance policies have a 0 deductible when it comes to automotive glass. Probably should file it. Call your ins. agent and ask them to be sure.

Yes insurance will cover it. Yu should shop around first bucause you "MIGHT" be able to find a place that will do it for less then what your deductable will cost. I had a windshield replaced in my Jimmy for $225.

I would use insurance however my deductible is $500. Although I dont know about auto glass... I had no idea some companies had that policy. I guess I'll have to check. Any ideas on how I would find that out? lol

Thanks for the quick responses everyone...

Your auto glass coverage will not have a $500 deductable. That falls under a different page off you coverage. At most it will be $250 I think. Who do you have?

I think some states actually have laws that glass repair can't be charged a deductible. Reason why is as stated, it's a safety issue and often costs less than the average deductible to replace.

In others, you can also find glass places that'll pay your deductible for you and then rape the insurance company.. which, I'm fine with since they rape you once a month anyhow.

Just call around to a few places.

Yeah definately ask the insurance company first. I got my windshield replaced for about $250. I wouldn't pay more then $300 for it.
