Need help asap...... Sitting on side of road

Just filled up. When I pulled in car was idling a bit rough with slight ticking from fuel rail. Once gassed up and started was still running rough. Pulled away and hit the on ramp and got a weird sound like air escaping. No cel. Restarted and sounds terrible. Worse than an sti. Still no code. Plugged my code reader in and it shows p0303 cylinder 4 misfire. What is wrong. I'm stranded 3 hours from home.

worst case scenario it sounds like #4 could possibly be blown. I would get in touch with friends / family. Maybe try unplugging the battery for a few minutes then try again.

Well in Florida with family. And why would it be #4 if it says number 3 misfire. I also smell fuel once started.

because you said #4 in the op. if you ment #3 then i would agree to check your plugs first, then injectors, then tune.

First guess sounds like its just an injector o-ring that let go... hold your hand over each injector and feel for air blowing by (specifically check #3 since that's where you're getting the code)..

I'm on stock tune. Stock injectors and replaced plugs with stock type plugs about 20k or more ago

Again, check the injectors... doesn't matter if they are stock or aftermarket - o-rings breakdown over time and become brittle, and they will split. This causes a major vacuum leak, which causes the car to stumble hard, and sputter, and you will also smell fuel because of the location. It will also pop a CEL. I've experienced this before, pop the hood, and feel for air over the injector.

The injectors are under the plastic fuel rail cover. Can you still feel air? I'm in a hotel now. Gonna wait til tomorrow when things are open.

is the coil pack the same for the ss/ls? If so wouldn't they all be missing if it was one ignition pack.
