nice eh. they better get that new cat for me real soon.
so now it sounds all nasty and rattely when i drive

Hi Red_Hot -

They have not been using beads in cats for many years - they use a "monolithic" catalyst material.

Beaded cats were the very first ones and did not flow at all.

Good luck - I am sure they will get your car going for you - but I can feel for you. It woud SUCK to get a brand new car and then have driveability issues in the first days.

best regards -

Hi Red -

No problem -

In the old days , you used to be able to puncture the cat and "drain" the beads out to get flow through the cat.

Here's to a speedy cat replacement for 'ya!

Got the car back today. They replaced the cat and put a new muffler on it.
Seems good they just told me not to drive over 100km to let it break in. and i might smell burning but thats because of the stickers on it.
So far so good. I was goin thru withdrawls with out my car haha.
But its great now, gonna wash it and shine it up tomorrow!!
Have an awesome weekend everyone!!

Mine has been rattling since the day I got it, and finally they're going to replace it now, a year and 2 months later, I never got a check engine light so maybe it was something else, my parts came in so I'm taking it in monday.

I worked at a company that makes catalytic converters until last month. The standards for american cars are very low and to compound the problem, the company I worked for takes advantage of the low standards by accepting and shipping a product that they know may not pass the already low standards. GM sued the company I worked for because we were cheating them on the precious metals.

So far the new cat seems to be fine. No engine light. Although its supposed to be the same exhaust they were going to put back on, it seems a bit louder to me. Maybe its just me. The muffler and cat should be the same parts as the original so im not sure.
Its going good so maybe they looked into it and hopefully fixed their quality issue.

I'm starting to get that whistling noise again. WTF is causing these cats to clog?
