never changed drum brakes
never changed drum brakes
So yea, never had a car with drums in the rear ive had to change personally, Just looked them up on rockauto.com and it shows brake drums and the whopping price of : $18.88 a piece.
So not having ever done them (im sure its easy) do i just need to order new drums and swap them on? remove ebrake lines, smack with a sludge and then swap em over or what? $18 bucks seems way to cheap for drums but then again i have no idea.
Car is 2007 with 80k original drums. any help appreciated, ill have to get them done at the next NE mod meet.

the drums are 18 a piece, then shoes are 30, then wheel cylinders (if needed) a screw driver a a few pairs of pliers will get the job done. Do one side at a time to ensure that you have a side for reference where the springs go
with 80k miles your shoes are probably seated pretty well in the drum (i know mine were when I changed mine at about 75k miles) it took me forever to get the drums off, but i just kept hitting it with a hammer until it popped off lol
if they are original drums the shoes may have warn into the drum creating a lip on the inside edge of the drum that can make it a bitch to get the drum off, just back the rear brake off a little bit (providing you can on these cars, ive never done drums on a balt and i have discs) changing the drum is pretty much pull of the drum put the new one on and adjust the brake (unless their self adjusting)
changing the shoes can be a pain in the butt because of all the little pieces other then that its not to hard with the proper hold down spring and brake tools. :P
