New '06 Recall
New '06 Recall
For those of you with an '06 we have a new recall. Not every one but apparently most. It's a safety issue ~ a plastic protection piece that is missing under the headliner, where it meets the visor. To know if yours is recalled, give them your VIN #. Your suppose to get a letter in the mail, I didn't, but it shows under my VIN #.
If they leave one spot of grease on my headliner they can replace it
(My apologies if this is a repeat but my search didn't come up with anything
)

Does anyone know, if you don't get a safety recall done, and go to sell the car, do you have to have it done before selling...

DETROIT General Motors is preparing to recall 98,707 Chevrolet Cobalt coupes that do not meet federal standards for occupant head protection.
The recall concerns Cobalt coupes from model years 2005 and 2006 that are not equipped with optional roof-mounted side impact airbags. No injuries have been connected with the recall.
GM has been installing extra padding in the coupes on the assembly line since last March. Dealers will add similar energy-absorbing plastic to the headliner to improve head protection in the 2005 and 2006 models.
What this means to you: Owners of the Cobalts in questions should contact Chevy at (800) 630-2438.
I just got the letter in the mail today. It is kind of ironic since I brought my car to the dealer 2 weeks ago concerning the fuel injector recall and the dealership did not mention anything about this current recall.
How nice to be remembered
I've decided not to bring her in for the recall. I learned my lesson fixing things that aren't 'really' broken, and IMO I don't care to have the added protection that only serves a purpose if your not wearing a seatbelt and you've rolled. I put my seatbelt on as soon as the key is in the ignition and don't need them screwing up my headliner!!!
I try and keep my car out of dealerships unless I'm there to 'supervise'...
P.S. I got an actual phone call from them last night about the recall, and that it only takes one hour. Whatever... nothing only takes an hour at the dealership!

At the time posted I looked at several pages with nothing regarding this particular recall so I stopped looking finally ~ and took the chance of re-posting to give some important information
but thanks for taking the time to post

I'm tired of worrying myself silly everytime I leave my car there. I'm picking a mechanic I can trust and will only ask for him to work on my car, no one else. I hate getting my car back with extra scratches on the cheap-ass paint around the trim inside, and grease on the leather arm... ACCK! Still, no way am I letting them touch my headliner. Over time it can sag and fray around the edges. Don't need any more headaches
