No gear!?

So driving yesterday behind a student driver doing like 50km/hr slowed down turned a corner went to shift into second gear heard a grinding noise for like half second (because I immediately depressed the clutch) and it wasn't there...neither was any other gear. The shifter just wobbles around freely. So pulled off to the side of the road, called the tow truck and now its sitting at the stealership while I wait for the news. Is this gonna be warrantied?

This happened to me 3 times. Your shifter linkage went, most likely broke the little roll pin. Mine was "fixed" twice and when it happened a third time i got a new tranny all covered under warranty, you should be fine man

Ok good, I was worried they were gonna look in there and pull some bs about abuse. I've been very careful not to cause wheelhop or anything like that because of this kinda stuff so it really sucks that something broke anyway. If its under warranty however alls good...except for the stuck driving my dad's neon part

You sheered the roll pin in the hydrolic shifter linkage on top of the tranny. It's basically a piece of thin walled steel rolled into the shape of a pin that holds an armature onto the tranny gear selector. They'd have a hard time claiming abuse, considering your linkages would be all bent out of shape if you were abusing it.

I'm about 90% sure that GM finally revised the roll pin design considering my car had to sit in the shop over the weekend because I broke it also and the roll pin is on backorder. Originally, I got the dealership to drill out the armature and tranny to put a 1/4" grade 8 bolt through instead of a hollow roll pin. Unfortunately, the dealership had a hard time drilling through the hardened steel piece coming from the tranny that the armature sits on top of. I'll give you an update on things when my dealership receives the roll pin...

I had a very similar problem and it ended up being a broken roll pin also. Pain in the ass for a tiny little pin.

Short throw shifter. And really, that shouldn't effect warranty coverage for a broken roll pin. The dealership would have to be full of **** to try and pull an excuse like that...

The dealership had my car for over a week and because the pin was on backorder and they didn't know when they would get it they decided to get a new tranny for my car cuz that was the only way they could get the part lol. so after 2 1/2weeks i got my car back with a new tranny for free!!!

I feel your pain. I've been walking to work for the last week. It's only a mile, but it sure makes me miss my car...

so called the dealer and my car might not even get looked at this week, they have no rental in their rental department. I can rent a car up to a certain amount per day and they'll reimburse me IF its covered under warranty.....grrrrrrrrr

Have it towed to another dealership. If they're not willing to help you, then you can take your business elsewhere. Don't let them put you in this situation. That's unacceptable...

I've had mine snap twice now. They put a stock pin in but sourced out to find a stronger pin. The got the pin in and replaced the stocker so we'll see what happens. I also hav a B&M STS and they give me know problems. Oh and by the way I did read some where that the stock shifter is a STS. I could be wrong though, just thought I read it somewhere.
