Oil leaking, ticking noise, no code

So a few days ago after coming back from a 2 1/2 hour trip. I hear an odd noise coming from my engine. The whole trip off and on I kept smelling something funny, but it was just small wiffs and smelt more like diesel than oil so I didnt think much of it. I pop the hood when i get back and there's oil everywhere and an unusual ticking noise coming from the engine. I check my dipstick and its dry. I clean the crap out my bay put some more oil in and run it for a sec to try and spot where its coming from. As soon as it comes out it hits the belt and gets flung around all over the place so I cant really spot where its coming from. I was keeping on eye on coolant temp, IAT2 and misfires on my interceptor.
Don't know if this is part of it but, for awhile now I've had a small misfire problem, not bad enough to throw a code. It was most likely an injector issue that I was going to fix in the spring, talked to a GM tech about it and he said it wasnt that big of a deal and I could fix it at my leisure .
I can't get an appointment at any of the car shops around here until the middle of January, its sitting outside the local chevy dealer atm hoping someone bails on an appointment and they can sneak it in. Unfortunately, I didnt think to take pictures or a video of the sound its making. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks
edit: no CEL through the whole ordeal

So, you've been without oil for an extended time? I check my dipstick at least twice a month for the hell of it. Can't be good, man.

I check my oil every time I fill up gas, just a habit I guess.

Could be any number of things, could be a bad lifter since its not getting oil...could be timing chain, could be rod bearings. MY bet is on rod bearings if you drove it without oil for any number of miles
