Oil overfilled?

Checking the oil today and i notice the oil mark is 2" past the checker on the end. Oil always gets changed at a dealership (really cheap price - use regular oil anyway). So are they overfilling me? Car runs fine

Did you check it hot or cold? The checker on the end is the cold fill. It will always read above that line if you check it hot. Or even warm for that matter. Check it after the car has sat overnight (if you didn't do that before) and see what it reads.

did you just pull it out and look at it?

or did you pull it out, wipe it off, put back in then pull it back out and check it?

are you parked front end first facing down hill?

sorry if the question seem stupid, but some people wont think of the obvious, and better to rule those things out first

You should always wipe the dipstick and recheck it. Oil doesn't just run off, even if it's sat for a while.

If you're checking on a clean dipstick and it's reading high, then yeah, they probably overfilled it. If it's by a lot, then you could have issues and just for piece of mind I'd take it in and tell them about it.
