took my code reader and deleted my p0449 code but it comes back a few minutes later. Says Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit Intermittent. i am going to check for a loose connection but if i don't find one should i just replace the solinoid?

Wait, is this the code that it throws if you dont put your gas cap on properly?

If that is what the problem is (valve not oppening or closing when commanded to)

There also could be a wire broken or shorted ,Did you check the connections to make sure they were okay?

The solenoid is located at the back of the car,if you dont hear the trunk monkey banging anymore then there is something definitly wrong with the evap cannister vent solenoid or its wires or connections.

If you mean the evap cannister vent solenoid I would say yes if it were stuck open due to
the gas evaporating and escaping through the open valve. But not a 100% on that.

HEY HEY HEY!!!! Check the fuse in the underhood fuse panel first. My blew after doing a 2nd gear burnout one night and made my car go crazy. Check the emissions fuse FIRST.

ok I'm back with this same damn code that has been on for months. Both the evap and purge solinoids have been replaced, fuses checked and good, and from what i can see the wires and connections are good to the evap soliniod. Still no trunk monkeys and the code keeps returning after erasing. Any suggestions?

any one?

What are these "Trunk Monkeys" you speak of ??? I just bought an 06 SS and have code P0449. I prefer to troubleshoot problems instead of just throwing parts at it so I'm reading up on it. Is the solenoid supposed to make noises when the ignition is turned on or off or what? I haven't heard any sounds coming from the rear of the car. Thanks in advance for any help.

Fixed my problem. Found wiring harness chewed up by a critter in the back right by the cannister. Respliced and all good. Still don't hear any trunk monkeys?????
