PLEASE HElP!!!

so tonight i was turning out of a development onto a 45 mile an hour road and once i got straight i floored and attempted to no lift **** 1st to 2nd. well when i jabbed it into gear it didnt go. i pull over and try all my gears and figure out that only have 1st, 3rd and 5th. i lost 2nd 4th and reverse. when i would try to put it into second or forth it would just revs and there is no gear there its just like neutral. im going to take it in tomorrow to the dealer. any thoughts?

cliff notes:
1. no lift shift from 1st to 2nd
2. when i did there was no 2nd
3. 2nd. 4th. reverse dont work. 1,3,5 gears work but are different feeling.

bump

YOUR FINE! It has happened to me, you need to pop out your cup holder and put the shifter linkage back into the bracket.

If you can't snap it back in with just the cup holder out, you need to take off the plastic molding around your e-brake, then pop up the plastic molding around your shifter. you will see two black linkages connected to your shifter. If you shift into 2nd or 4th you will see the linkage pop up. Take that linkage and press it down into the bracket. and your done.

It's either that, or you broke your roll pin which is an easy fix.

Why have gears when you have a motor as torquey as the LNF. 3rd is fine for all driving situations.

im going to say its a bent shifter cable. i had the exact same thing happen when i bent the shifter cable in my cavalier at the dragstrip. i tried to powershift 2nd and it didnt go, then i had a hard time getting it in to any gear. when i got back to the pits i could get it in 1st 3rd and 5th only.

Sounds like linkage, but it could also be Trans.
I don't really know much about the anatomy of the Cobalt, but the same thing happened to my Saab.

Though it was first 3rd gear that didn't work, THEN I couldn't use 4th, and then if I was in 5th It wouldn't let me go back into 1st. It felt like shifting into nothing, then it stopped shifting period.
