Popping Noise

I noticed this sound the last couple of days that ive never heard before and i was wondering if anyone knows what it could be..when i first start off in 1st gear a semi loud popping sound will come right when 1st gear is fully engaged from what sounds like under the hood..and when i hit the brakes..within a second or two after it will make the same popping sound again. i noticed this when the radio was off and the windows were down and it seems like it only makes this noice when going into first..but im not sure if thats because i cant hear it over engine noise in the other gears. any suggestions on what this noise could be? its hard to explain so sorry about not having details.

anyone know what this could be?....ive pretty much narrowed it down to when i accelerate from a stop it will make the popping noise and then when i hit the brakes it does it again. it doesnt always does this..only around 50% of the time.
