Car is 2006 Cobalt 4 door 2.4. This problem started one door at a time and has progressed to all 4 doors. I can push either the power door lock button in the car or on the wireless thing and at first the door locks would work sometimes yes, sometimes no on the problem door locks. At times you could see the locks working themselves up or down depending if I was trying to lock or unlock the car and how many times in a row I hit the lock or unlock button and they would get there eventually. After awhile they just stopped moving under power mode and had to be moved by hand. It was as if they were "sticking". The locks work fine when I use them manually; at no time do I get "locked in" to the car by any of the doors.

I have done a good bit of seaching and found nothing on the internet. Stopped into my mechanic's place this morning and he had never heard of this.

Anybody else have this problem or have any ideas? It's a huge pain!

The door lock actuators are bad and need to be replaced in each door. I run a body shop and see this problem all the time. I've had to replace both of mine already.

 

Thanks man! My neighbor, who's a mechanic, thought that might be it.

I think I'll stick with "manual mode." It's a lot less expensive.
