Pressing the clutch in cranks the motor on????

I'm having this issue where the motor is off I turn the key to the on position and I'm able to start the motor by pressing down on the clutch, idk what it could be, my theory it could be the igniton switch in the key but I'm lost. Any ideas??

Maybe explain a little better because being able to start the car when pushing the clutch in is supposed to happen lol. I may have read it wrong.

Ok well you know the that noise when you turn your key but you forget your car is already on so it makes that grinding noise. Well that's what's happening to me everytime I push down on the clutch pedal when the motor is running. Before the motor is on I use to be able to press on the clutch first fully then turn the key to crank the motor but now im able to just leave the key in the on position and press the clutch down to crank the motor, so literally instead of turning the key to start the motor im pushing down on the clutch to start it.

thats a tough one to diagnose over the internet. the bcm receives the "crank" signal from the key and sends power to the clutch switch, and then to the starter relay and ecm. the ecm sends the ground signal to the starter relay. from looking at the diagram you either have a bad ignition switch sending the crank signal all the time, a short to power in the circuit between the bcm and clutch switch, or a bad bcm.

just for the heck of it, pull the 10 amp "ip ignition fuse" in the bcm and try starting it. by all theory, it shouldnt start. this will help narrow things down a little.

Sounds like a failed ignition switch, making contact with the start circuit even when in on position. Have you had yours replaced via the recall?

Update I was able to start the car normally by pulling the ip ignition fuse. So that being said the ignition switch needs to be replaced. Thanks sharkey for the help I appreciate it.

That sounds like ur ignition isn't shutting off, constantly trying to start an already started car. So I'm assuming when the car is off and key is in run position, as soon as u press clutch without turning key, it starts right?

Yup, it's stilll doing it after I just replace the ignition switch. I found that it's not the actual clutch pedal that starts it, it's the clutch sensor so I'm thinking i should remove that sensor and install a kind of push button, would make a pretty neat anti theft system. The car runs perfect btw when I unplug that sensor after it cranks the motor.

If you remove the clutch switch and use it as a pushbutton start, you will lose your cruise control, just an FYI.

I'd find the actual cause of the issue, if there's faulty wiring somewhere it's only a matter of time before it gets worse and engages the starter when you're driving or something.

Idk what else it could be, I checked all my fuses there All good. All wiring from the switch and its good, my only conclusion is that it could be the ecm.
