Problem w/Power Steering....help...

Okay, I was driving and all of a sudden my power steering light went on and I have no idea why. Also my speedometer doesn't work. So I drove off to my house then it worked again for about a min.....then it did it again. What's my problem...then the check engine light went on....any suggestions? Could it be a sensor, and has this ever happened to anyone else....by the way my car only has 600 miles on it.....still under warranty.

Sounds like electrical demons...you didn't say anything felt different on the car, right? Just lights for no apparent reason? Get it checked soon either way, though. And if it's electrical, be prepared to drive a loaner. Those can take days to diagnose.

sounds like speed sensor is failing for some reason (either electrical problem or faulty sensor at THAT mileage). since your power steering is speed-sensitive, this may explain the problem there. there is another way to see if speed sensors are messed up - check your odometer/tripometers to see if they are working or not. (also, maybe your MPG on the DIC may not work). i had this happen on a 92 buick of mine - the dealer replaced the whole computer before they realized it was the speed sensors --- idiots! anyway -- this is just a thought, I'm no mechanic, and don't have your car in front of me....good luck!!

Sounds like a short to me, i'm not sure if a speed sensor that goes bad would be cause for the fuses blowing like that, but maybe so. That is one thing that worries me about these cars. They have a lot of electrical issues from what I've read. Electrical issues can be a pain in the ass and cost major $ to diagnose and fix when the warranty runs out.

Dude, i had a problem very similiar to what you just explained. I would lose my PS, Speed, RPM, Fuel, and running lights. They were all there own seperate problems but the problem itself was at the same source. My wiring harnass was rubbing on a support bracket behind the radio. It chafted through the insulation on 4 of my power wires causeing all that stuff to short out. So to save your tech a "LOT" of time, tell him to inspect your wiring harnass behind the instrument/dash panel.
