So every once in awhile, maybe 2 time out of 10, when i turn my car on and put it in reverse to back out of the garage, it wont completely go into reverse (its a 5spd). i go to put it in reverse and it doesnt go all the way, and when i try to go back, the car just revs. anybody else have this happen?

i tried pumping the clutch pedal a few times...idk random idea....but that didnt help...it feels like its not the transmission but the shifter itself just wont go into reverse.....like sumthing is in the way and blocking that gear...but once i get into first and go its fine

pull the center console cup holder & check the shifter cable bracket clip, i already fixed couple cobalt ss/sc in my dealer(i am chevy tech) came from factory with shifter cable out of this bracket.

shift to second first before shifting to reverse because its not syncronized, shifting to second ensures everything in the tranny has stopped.

on this same token i can shift to reverse while moving forward without any grinding - this shouldnt be possible but the balt dose it, and no i dont shift to reverse for fun, i was checking if the balt had a reverse lockout like my other car and was surpreised when it slipped in

Mine does this every now and then. I just shift back to first, then back to reverse and it goes in fine.

I just ordered an SS/SC so i cant say on this car yet, but that happens to me like every other time i try to go into reverse on my civic SI. I just put it into 1st (without releasing the clutch obviously) and then put it back into reverse. It takes several attempts sometimes. It has always been that way and the clutch/tranny is fine.
