Problems with the Hurst

SO this weekend me a a buddy installed my new hurst short throw. The reverse lock out is no longer functional, ans 5th gear is hard to find.
This is a picture of the shifter in 5th gear. The metal is supposed to be hard up against the plastic.

Another of same problem

This is the shifter in reverse. The metal is not even making contact with the plastic.

Any help would be great

Hey bud I had the same problem. In my opinion the shifter is not made correctly. What you have to do is adjust the cable on the L it is the white one.Use a little screw driver and unclip it stick the screw driver in the front between the grey and white. the top will pop up and now push the shifter slightly over to the pass side and reclip the cable. You may have to do this a few times to get it exact.I also had to sand down the reverse lock out guide slightly. And the more you use it the shifter does it for you. The only thing I found with doing this is 3rd gear is a bit notchy to find when you are trying to speed shift. If this helped give me some reputation points.
Ciao,Chris.

^^ what he says is bang on.
its trial and error with the left cable to get it where you want it.
spaz...if you move it a bit youll get 3rd good too.
it took me a while but now they all shift perfect. and i find the 2-3 shift wayyy easier than stock now.
i went to the track last night, 11 passes. and didnt miss a single shift!
hurst ftmfw!

i have on 07 g85 ss/sc car. I installed the hurst shifter 3-4 weeks ago and it went flawless. I have to file the plastic tab for reverse slightly, but its went smooth as hell. my throws are any shorter but tis smooth and much more solid feeling.

did anyone have any problems with the set screw on the pivot/ball thing? mine keeps getting loose. i re-did it two times, but it kept sliding so i got some lock-tite, and it's setting as we speak. hopefully this works.

Yeah mine came loose 1 time cause the inside hex stripped.I got new ones at home depot 1/4" nc and yeah you are supposed to lock tight them in.
