Problems with overheating
Ok, I just replaced my radiator after I had my last one bent and cracked. And now I just filled it up with about a gallon and half of coolant and its hitting 210* Ive never seen it over 190s* any ideas whats wrong?
idleing, I was sitting at a red light and i just took a right instead of waiting then it went down, but ive had my car through all summer when it hits 115* oustide in traffic and its never hit over 200*
Yeah, even 240 is ok. If running plain water, it'll start to steam at 242 degrees, but if you've got your 50/50 coolant water mix, it'll be fine till somewhere north of 260. If you do see 240, though, your fans probably aren't working.
I know mine is working for a fact, it will come on when I turn on the A/C and I checked the solenoid and tested it that way also. I hit like 210* while at idle, ive just never seen it that high before.. its never really hit over like max of 196* or 198* even. Well unless i just got done racing or something.. 205* or so.
Oh, yes i have a 50/50 coolant in there.

Ok, today I was driving my car from school to home, went inside changed for work and drove to work for maybe 5 minutes and it got up to 210* (started at like 150* I only took like 15 min to get changed) while im driving, (not idleing) I think im going to just replace the thermostat to see what happens, like you said.. I know you can boil them to see if they pop open all the way, so we will see. I know 210 isnt too bad, im just curious as to why, I did burp out all the air, and I have been driving it for a few days now at least since monday.
Well then, since all my stock parts still work, I now have a Radiator and cooling fan availble for sale... Anyone know of anyone who needs one? Let me know. Will post it up in the sale ads.
