Rattle at high speed, except when turning
Rattle at high speed, except when turning
06 Cobalt LS. When I get above 60mph, I start to hear a faint rattle coming from somewhere in front of me. When I hit 70, it gets much louder and sounds like it's coming from the behind the steering wheel). If I take a turn on the highway, the sound stops coming through the wheel. Once I straighten out again it returns. (the entire time I can hear it coming from the engine bay, but it's very faint).
Any ideas? I've thought that maybe it could be the steering column or something in the drivetrain. Have not performed any work on it yet.

No accidents, title was clean when I bought it.
There's also a clunk when I turn the wheel. Doesn't matter which way, and there's only a clunk when changing the direction I'm turning the wheels.
I'm thinking it might be the halfshafts?

I found a few videos online and the loud rattle sounds like it's the steering column. But the fainter rattle I think is from the half shafts, and I suspect may be the reason the column makes so much noise. Going to try and wiggle things tomorrow after work to see what makes noise.
I think the half shafts might be bad, because when I'm at >50% load, I feel the power output wavering. Going to wiggle them around as suggested and see if they're loose.
