is it really necessary to replace fuel line when removing intake manifold

According to gm service manuals and various parts breakdown lists
They say that when removing the round 2 inch diameter fuel line connection it must be replaced.
I am assuming many on here have not replaced this part when removing intake manifold?
The part is coded as item #12 in this listing actual part # on mine is 12590703
FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM-FRONT. Fits: Cobalt, HHR, Pursuit, Sky, Solstice | Nalley Buick GMC Brunswick

question is: why are you removing your intake manifold? and depending on your response, no, it would not inherently mean that you would need to replace your fuel line.

Guess I should have been a little clearer.
Gm shows part#12 above as needing to be replaced whenever it is removed.
Since I see no way of removing the intake manifold without removing #12 above
I was looking to see if anyone has removed #12 above and replaced without any issues

My intake manifold has been off and on the car half a dozen times. Never replaced a fuel line, have no leaks.

They probably say it cause its from the hpfp and its better to be safe than sorry with the fuel pressure that the line sees. Or is it the supply line

#12 is the supply side. It's low pressure. #10 is high pressure, which is the one GM recommends to replace.

Thanks for all the input so far on this.
I did just come across this thread
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/08-1...emoval-297361/

Great info from soxfan and others on removing the manifold and john Powell even wrote in the thread to not actually remove the line just tweak it a little which I assume means to move up a tiny bit?
From john p in the thread link above
the tb gasket is reusable. dont undo the HP fuel pump tweak it up. remove the two studs makes it easy. There is a grey locking clip on the TB connector remove that first then the connector. you need 10 mm and 13 mm sockets and the torque specs are 16 ft lbs for the intake manifold bolts and studs and 89 inch lbs for everything else.... If you reuse the IM gasket use blue sensor safe RTV to stop the wicking of the oil into the blind chambers etc.

If you are exchanging manifolds dont forget the pcv valve knock it out with long 1.4 drive extension angled through the throttle body opening and a sharp hammer blow. oil the o ring to replace and tap it in using a 13 mm socket as a drift with a hammer
