Replacing wheel speed sensor

The other day I am sitting at a stop light and my service traction and ABS lights came on. It comes on randomly (usually when my foot is on the break) and goes off when the car turns off. The message display, displays "service traction/traction off". Keep in mind I am in Ohio and have been running in sub freezing temps and snow for the past 2 weeks. I ran a scan at the parts store and it came back with a front left wheel speed sensor error. I just had the front left wheel bearing and hub replace in October. Am I able to replace the sensor myself?

nope, need to replace whole thing again. little advice for u. the plug that plugs into the sensor on the hub, the back of the plug where the wires go in, silicon it, and make sure u push the silicon down into the holes as much as u can. the rubber weather proofing doesn't work all the time. most issues with this I can garentee is because of moisture getting into the plug and blowing the sensor. I blew 2 and always had issues with them when I drove in water or it was raining or wet, I siliconed them and haven't had issues since. 3 years now.

I was afraid of that. I had a shop do this and they of course charged me $400 for it since I am not very good with cars. Do you think they would fix it since technically they messed up? Do you think unplugging the sensor, cleaning it up and adding silicone to it like you did here would fix it?. I really don't want to have to pay for a whole new hub. Waste of money since the bearings will last the rest of the cars life.

Well it's not really their fault if the sensor went. U could talk to them and see. If ur sensor is already blown siliconing won't fix it. Goto rockauto.com u'll find the wheel bearings are much cheaper there. And it's not to hard to replace. If u have some hand tools get someone to help u and give it a shot. Learn a little about how to fix stuff and Ull save a lot of money on labor.

Alright. I just find it hard to believe that it would be a bad sensor already if they installed it correctly.

Alright well everything looked to be connected properly. I unplugged the sensor, put a heater next to the wheel and let it sit for 3 hours in the garage so everything could melt and dry up. Plugged in the sensor and put my tire back on and thought it fixed it driving around for 20 minutes without anything coming up.....Then, it randomly came back on when sitting at a stop light on my way home from the garage I used. Crap.

Are you guys sure it's the hub assembly I need to replace? Are you sure it's not the ABS harness as well? Do I need a press to replace a cobalts hub?

Hubs are bolt on.
Yours is bad.
Replace it.
It's one sealed unit.
