Roll Pin Issues/Questions

So today I tried for the second time to replace my linkage roll pin following the How To by ralliartist. And for the second time i utterly failed. The pin is in the same exact spot its been in. It looks pretty beat up. Idk what else to try.

I've never had too much trouble getting those out, because mine were either broken or sticking half way out, because they were ****.

I now have a coiled roll pin in there that's been fine for a year now. The play may just be from the spring being worn on the stock shifter.

I admit, the first time I did my roll pin, it tightened up the shifter a hell of a lot, but now it just feels pretty sloppy, and i think it's the shifter itself, or bushings, or the bracket for the cables.
