rotors shot at 10k
I just bought a used cobalt ss/sc. its a 06 and the rotors in the front have deep grooves in them already. Is that normal? Rotors on my camaro, whcih are notrious for going out after 10k were liek that and i've heard of some dealers replacing them under the warranty. it does really bother me except for the fact taht I have to get the car inspected because i purchased it out of state and they are going to make me cut the rotors which I do not want to spend money on. thanks.

weird.
Cutting your rotors is a waste of time, in my opinion. Usually when you turn them down, they are good for a couple of stops and then the warpage/grooves come right back and they shudder... I've always replaced them (unless it was on a strict beater).

if they fix them once, i'll be okay after that cause when the summer comes along, i'll be autoxing and what not, so it'll be my fault if it happens again.

my last Cobalt (an 05 base coupe with a manual transmission) had 40,000 miles on the brakes and they weren't warped either... in fact the pads still looked new... weird.
