RPM stays at 2500 rpm when in nuetral
So I need some help. I'm not sure why my car is doing it but sometimes it will all of a sudden rev all the way up to 2500 rpm when it's in nuetral. When I go into gear it will drop until I go overthat amount then will want to continue to stay about 2500 rpm. I took it to the dealership here in cali but they said they want to charge me for three hours of diagnostic charges due to me having modifications. They have previously made repairs on my car but for some reason won't touch it this time. Could this issue be a dirty air filter or maybe an electric problem? please help!!

Might be your evap purge stuck open allowing gas fumes to enter the throttle body. But generally you would have trouble starting it after filling the tank if it was.
Any other things that you have notice?
Is the gas pedal coming all the way up?
Might be a dirty throttle body as well!

crazy thing is, is that when that happens if I shut the car off it has problems restarting!! Seems like it started right after I was almost out of gas. Ever since then it will happen then work fine and all of a sudden start over revving. I had the throttle body and sensor replaced about 6 months ago due to it staying in rep mode.

not that I can tell, if I had a vac leak I would suspect that it would stay like that. I can drive my car for a few days and the issue won't happen. I could take the throttle body apart and see if that's the issue and also clean the cai and see if that helps. I hate dealerships and I worked at a chevy dealer for 4 years selling.

Give the evap purge selinoid a bit of a rap to see if it unsticks it.
Its located on the right side of the rocker cover when looking at the motor.
It actually bracketed to the side of the engine.

cleaned throttle body, seemed to hel;p for the most part. Didn't realize another issue that is ongoing and seems to me to be related. My coolant temp never goes over 105 degrees, when it over revs the coolant temp shows around 28 degrees which we all know isn't possible when i live in socal. Any suggestions? would the solenoid be the issue with this? And my car did go in limp mode 6 mos ago and the throttle body was replaced.

Do you have a catch can? If not u obviously know my next suggestion lol. Your coolant doesnt see normal operating temps? Wtf maybe the tstat is stuck open? How many miles are on the balt? Thats verrry odd. Ilthe lowest temp ive seen with lnf n lsjs with a stuck open tstat was like 160deg F. Never 128 lol

that has to be it!! I was driving to play hockey last night and my coolant said it was -40!!!! With the coolant temp going under 60 is when my rpm goes up. I may have a electrical problem because I also got a stupid cel for a p2226 and a 90069 code. Cleared them and they haven't come back yet. Also my sunroof will work and then not work. Only thing electrical I have done is my hid's and that's it, and i didn't even hook up the halos. Should I force the dealer to look at it or is it something I can figure out?

ya the reason it was staying revved up so high is cause the car was basically staying in warm up mode since the coolant wasnt heating up it was staying there thinkin its super cold outside
