Scraping sound from rear
Scraping sound from rear
If I turn while braking, especially right hand 90 degree turns (into driveway, etc) I get a loud scraping noise that seems to come from the rear. Only if I've slowed down to less than 3 or 4 mph will I avoid it.
I've only noticed this since I put on my winter wheels but I don't know if that's the cause. I've got 215/55/16's on and there doesn't seem to be any clearance issues.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Droped my car off at the dealer this morning, and they call me back an hour later to let me know that my drivers side rear caliper is hanging up and they have to order a new one. also they think this is what is making my car pull to the left. So we will see if this fixes everything.
i've had something like that as well, sounded metallic, and i've noticed it most commonly when doing hard braking from high speeds (100mph+) but not always when i'm turning.. usually goes away after a few minutes.. i dont really wanna ask my dealer about about it, cant give away that i've been driving the car that hard.

i have the same problem/noise. always after heavy braking, coming from both rear brakes i think, gota take to the dealer. i think they must be hanging up as well, although ive never seen any extra wear or dust, or smell hot brakes. anybody else have this after heavy braking??
I have hanging rear calipers for sure. I always smell hot brakes, hard driving or not. The dealer inspected them at the beginning of winter and said everything was operating normally, at my next oil change I'm sure they'll notice the extra pad wear in back!
My noise comes from the flimsy plastic end piece that encapsulates the rear of the car. Press on it sometime just behind the rear wheel and watch the wheel well move nicely along with it. Needs braceing of some kind on each side.
