Shifting problems AGAIN...

Well well well. Again I have another problem with my car and shifting. Seriously regretting not selling this car now...

Took the car tonight to run some errands. On the way home I was on the highway getting off and exit. Was in 5th pushed the clutch in, blipped the throttle to rev match, and went to shift to fourth. There was nothing. Wouldn't go into fourth or any gear. Ended up just coasting off to the side of the road.

My first instinct was to get out and see if there was any fluids leaking or check the fluid levels. No fluids were leaking and the fluid levels were fine.

Got back in the car and tried to put it in gear with the car being off. It went into every gear perfectly fine with the car off. I started the car with it in neutral and tried putting it into first. It wouldn't go. Next I put the car into first with the car being off and starting it. It started and upon starting it the car had a seriously rough idle. I let off the clutch and it grabbed and I was on my way but I can't shift it any gears. There is nothing grinding at all.

Luckily I wasn't to far from home as I drove home with it in first. Really can't check a whole lot right now as its dark out but does any one have an insight as to what to look for or what it'd be? Thinking more likely the tob went bad but who knows.

Like its blocking you out from shifting or you can go into the slot and it does nothing?

It's definitely blocking me from going into gear when the car is on.

Yeah if your clutch isn't working right that could happen. Clutch pressure feel normal?

Have you ever replaced your shifter cables? Mine is really really hard to shift from 2nd to 3rd when pushing it and Powell told me to replace the shifter cables.

Never changed them. It's not going to be that as I can shift perfectly fine when the car is off. It will not go into gear when the car is on.

You're probably right, but mine shifts perfectly when driving normally, only refuses to change gears when close to redline so I thought I'd offer what I learned

I don't think that's what happen as my clutch still holds when it's in gear. I just can't switch gears when the cars on.

Sounds sort of like a clutch issue to me as well. I've seen this happen a few different ways. Anything from a bad/failing tob, to a spring breaking loose from the disc hub and lodging itself between the fw and pp. Either of these fit the description of your issue. The trans will shift in and out of gear no problem with the engine off, however with the engine running the trans will not go into gear.

My LSJ did this when the TOB grenaded. That TOB came out in 5 pieces and did not drip a single iota of fluid.

That's what happened when my clutch blew up. And by blew up I mean parts of it became separated. The middle ring separated from the clutch material that's grabs.

Hmmm. Interesting things to see... Still didn't get to dig into it yet. Hoping to get to it by the end of the week. Stuff just keeps going down hill this week and it's getting ridiculous. Haha...

My 12v cummins has been in for paint since a little after July 4th and peobably won't have it for another week. I bumped my gfs gti with my beater blazer at the end of June and I cracked her front bumper headlight bracket and fog light. Needless to say it's getting fixed this week and she has my blazer. My car breaks down Saturday night. Yay. No car for me. I get a call today around lunch from her saying the blazers leaking fluid from the rear end. She must've hit something and smashed the differential cover...

I have 3 vehicles and I can't drive any of them. Can this week just be over with already? Haha.

Well I called off today to get my blazer fixed and try to figure something out with my car. Bleed the lines did pretty much nothing. Narrowed it down to the clutch though. Did a quick test in the driveway. Put it on flat ground, put it in first when it was off and started it. The car will actually pull itself when you let off the brake a little bit while the clutch is pushed to the floor. Same goes with reverse.

Probably just gonna throw a gmpp clutch in since most guys are having great results with it.

Mine is doing the same ****, just waiting on parts to fix it. I'm about 99% sure it's the TOB since I can't go into first at all and when I turn on the car the car creeps forward with the clutch pedal to the floor and the car on flat ground.
