so its come to this.... please help.
hey guys, well i was hoping my dealer could fix my problem but they cant. anyway my car dosnt like to start, and when it do start, if i try to rev it it just bogs out and stalls. also making a poping noise or a cracking noise. also. when it do start normal, if i rev it alittle i get big (and i mean BIG) puffs of black smoke, so much that it lingers in the air. i have major power loss also. gm has been no help, they keep telling me that theres no cel so theres nothing they can do, and the tech 2 shows everythin to be working fine. but i know it isnt (even the tech said that there shouldnt be so much smoke) ..... please help, this issue has only came up in the past month. and i havent modded my car in forever so i know its not somethin i added recently
edit, the crank sensor was replaced a few months ago. the cat was replaced a few months ago, the plugs were replaced 3 months ago. car still has stage 2 tune cuz i still have the 7 thousand rpm redline so i know they didnt **** the tune........ please help, or i'm gonna have to get a new car...... and its gonna be a mustang :O

an injector stuck open maybe?
its pretty shitty that the dealership isnt willing to troubleshoot it. is there a "lemon law" in canada? if so, you should try to get them to buy it back. if all else fails, take the mods off and trade it in.

car is not even a year old...... i have warranty........ taking it to a diff dealer isnt possable since this is the only one in my area.... if a injector was stuck open wouldnt they see to much fuel while using the tech 2?
if they cant fix it once, take it back again and again... eventually they will get tired of it, and at the same time you will be creating a history of the same problem. they will eventually figure it out or GM will tell them to do somthing rediculouse like put a new motor in it or buy it back. it sux but you have to play the dealer/warranty game in this type of situation.
id try to put new plugs in it atleast just to make sure prob not the issue tho...try NGK instead of ZEX im a diehard NGK fan seen alot of thigs get straightened out by just changing the plugs
BRK7E i believe are the 1 step colder NGK copper plug, its worth a try

the tec2 cant read air fuel ratios. just sees the fuel trims (long term fuel trim / short term fuel trim) and if the mechanic doesnt know what to look for, they wont see it. the tec2 is a diagnostic tool that is used to troubleshoot electrical problems that the cars ecu can see. there is obviously a mechanical failure somewhere. im not saying it definitely is a bad injector. its just the first thing that came to my mind when you described the problem. black smoke from the exhaust is either unburnt fuel or oil and a flooded engine wont want to run.
Just take a long screwdriver and put it to your injectors and listen for a ticking noise. If you don't hear it then the injector is stuck or failed.
It almost sounds like it has the wrong size injectors in it(too big). But you would be getting a fuel trim rich code.
You said the cat has been replaced correct? I would say have them check it out again just to be sure.
The fact is they HAVE to correct the issue if you're under warranty. If you take it there and they say "sorry, we can't fix it" then tell them to figure it out and give you a loaner car until it's worked out. If your dealer is giving you problems, contact gm and they'll do something about it.

really I can think of a thousand things that could cause this problem, but the only one that comes to mind that wouldn't throw a code is a clogged cat. The fact that it's clogged would make your engine bog and cut out, and revving it could blow some of the lodged carbon build up out of the tail pipe causing the smoke. But it's been replaced.
have you done any exhaust modifications to your car? any that required welding?
fuel trims wont always throw codes. usually only will see a code if its too lean or misfiring.
Novajoe is right, if it is under warranty and they can duplicate (document) the problem they HAVE to fix it unless they pull the "your mods caused _____ to fail so we wont warranty it" bullshit.
These cars do love to eat converters so its entirely possibe that its clogged or that you got a defective aftermarket one.

I dunno. take it back to the dealer... and bring a megaphone. Ask them politely to fix your car, and if they say they don't know what's up, bring out the megaphone and state it again so that they can hear you.
hey i need my car fixed...
we can't figure it out...
ahem.... I NEED MY CAR FIXED!!

they cant fix what they dont see is what they are trying to say. other than the black smoke/soot, the tech 2 is telling them everythin is fine........ and its not throwing a cel.
i wonder if i pop a pistion and send oil and shards of metal all over the ground would that give me a cel??? or would they simply say "theres no cel, and the tech 2 is telling us its fine, i donno why its leaking oil, and theres a hole in ur block"

I could see myself ready to bitchslap someone telling me everything's fine when there's a bunch of smoke coming out and the car's shutting off on it's own.
That's like turning off all the fire alarms in a building and setting it on fire, then having the fire department come... then leave because the fire alarms aren't going off even though there's 60 ft flames shooting out the windows...
whatever the problem is... it's causing you to either run extremely rich, cause an extreme carbon buildup, or both.
If the techs at the dealer near you can't figure out the problem simply because the scanner isn't telling them what it is, then take it to a different dealership with techs that actually know what they're doing.
If you're worried about the whole warranty situation, convert back to stock(except for stage 2) and there won't be a problem.
