Problems/Service/Maintenance Do you have problems with your new 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4L? What kind of service did you have done?

So it rains and something goes wrong.

Exclamation So it rains and something goes wrong.

When it rains for about a full day, and I drive my 06 2.0 SC, the day after and sometimes later in the day of, my car will seem to hit its rev limiter or jerk very hard approaching 3 rpm or 5 rpm (depending on how much it rained). What the hell is wrong? Put some codes and all it said was clean your injectors and maybe an O2 sensor.

Clean your MAF Sensor, it could be dirty, same happened to me, if you have a CAI, check it out.

Get code numbers, I've never heard of a code saying to clean injectors (learn/rich?) and a 'maybe '02 failure is a pretty big hit to engine performance. These codes set when conditions are met, and some are pretty crazy, so...

And if you can easily tell me/show me, where is the MAF sensor located?

Mine did the same thing this summer after i would wash my car. My theory was just a little water would seek through the intake and do something but it would run fine after a little while. Then my buddy told me no that probably wouldnt cause that so I really dont know. I would like to know why as well.

Do you have your warranty?

If you need those codes pulled again go to an Autozone and ask them to print out a slip on each one to take home, once they run the codes. It has the numbers, and definitions of the code on the slip.

CAI = Cold Air Intake, and if your not familiar with this, I'd leave the MAF alone... Too easy to mishandle or spray the wrong stuff on.

This also happened to me once on my ss/sc after heavy rain. On 1/4 throttle or so I could rev it fully, but if I gave it any serious gas, it would bounce off 4k like that was the rev limiter. Went away the next day. Never got a CEL or anything. I just assumed the MAF got a little damp and the car wasn't reading airflow correctly - hence the low rev-limiter under throttle to protect the engine.
