Solution to gauge cluster going on and off?

I did a search on here and see it is a very common problem by alot of cars on here. My car is an 06 SS/SC with 42,500 miles. This problem just started about two weeks ago. Im driving down the road then the gauge cluster stops working, speedo, tach, gas gauge go to zero, the ABS light comes on, it flashes power steering and low fuel at me. Then usually it goes back on after a few seconds. Its been doing it alot lately. then today it stayed on and didnt go off. So I pulled over, turned off the car and it wouldnt crank over to start when I turned the key. tried it a few times and wouldnt crank. Then after about 5 minutes of sitting it finally started and I drove home. After it started all the guage cluster worked fine. The security light always comes on too, the light with the car and a lock through it. I need help with this, im getting frustrated with it.
After searching here I see it is very common, but seems like no one replied with what is causing this?
Im taking my car into the GM dealer next week to do the power steering recall so I will have them look at it, but would like to kno whats wrong. I love this car, don't want to get rid of it

When the malfunction is active and you cannot start your car, push still starting works.

good luck man

all threads on here give you the runaround more then gm does.. my car is sitting because of this
after you have them for so long car stops starting up and you get all the clusters going and alarms

you can replace everything and have it all happen again a year later there is no perminate solution

im fed up with all the problems my car has had and only at 65k, my honda civic i had before this pos didnt have any problems i only traded it in because i was at 325k miles..
lesson is never buy domestic anything !!

trade the car in now !!

OP when it comes to electrical start with fuses (fuse tester not visual) and electrical connections and visually look at the wire looms and look for wear, beyond that take it to someone who does car electrical.

Its difficult to trouble shoot from a keyboard, there are things people can say to check. There is not magically single fix when it comes to electrical issues. The issue with the thread run around not everyone comes back to their thread and says hey this is what fixed my issue.

well i got the car running

gm said that the key had gone bad and to try my spare set now works fine and its a security thing

had me unhook battery and connect neg pos wires together for two minutes then reconnect them to the battery
then open my driver door and hit the lock button
put key in and fired right up no problems

if it happens again to try flipping the key or use my spare set... they are shipping me a set of new ones
