some weird things happend

last night i was driving my car for about 30 minutes then i stopped and parked ona steep hill and never turned the car off, but while i was sitting i could hear like a ticking like what you would hear after turning the car off after a drive only this time i heard it while the car was still on, not sure what that was... then after i took it out of park and starting driving the car started acting weird where it felt a whole lot faster than normal, i look down and my traction control light is on and when the car shifted or i let off the gas after accelerating it would jerk kinda rogh but not too bad, i was enjoying the added speed but i was worried about the tranny so i starting trying thing, 1st thing i tried was turning the cruise control on and after 2 seconds of that being tunred on at about 65 mph the traction control light went off and the car acted normal the whole drive home, this morning it didnt act up at all either. Any speculation on what these things could mean?

i think i may have but i know i took it off before i started driving, i was thinking maybe it wasnt clicked down all the way but while driving i was making sure it was pushed down all the way and it didnt seem to make a difference, i like the added speed when this happend, is the traction control a drag on the car even when not activated? when that light came on the car just flew so fast

You mentioned you observed a "Traction Contol" Disabled LAMP not a "Low Traction" message on the Driver Info Center correct? The TC disabled lamp is a picture of a tire profile labled TC and a line through it (ie NO Traction Control)When this lamp illuminates (without an ABS lamp as well) then traction control has temporarily been disabled. Depending on the reasons, TCS may return a few seconds/minutes later OR not until the next IGN Cycle.

The lamp could have been illuminated if the ABS sytem noticed something that would cause it to temporarily inhibit traction control.Since traction control is actually torque reduction performed by the Engine Control Module (ECM) - Traction Control can also be disabled by the ECM if it obseres either "conditions" or a fault that would prevent or affect it's torque reduction capabilities. The "Check Engine" lamp wasnt coming ON as well was it??Either way you should bring it in to the dealership if it happens again.

The system is designed to control wheel spin on acceleration so YES with it disabled you my have observed additional torque when accelerating from a stop. The SS/SC is not equipped with traction control for obvious reasons

Again, like I said not abnormal to observe additional torque when the "TC Disabled" lamp is ON. This condition can (depending on the observed fault) also affect the Transmission Control Module (TCM) on an car with an automatic transmission. The EBCM-ECM-TCM relationship results in certain torque management techniques are utilized (even under good traction conditions) that intentionally reduce delivered engine torque during upshifting and downshifting as this will minimize transmission and driveline wear and tear and allows the automatic transaxle's clutches, bands and sprags to pass the torque over to other compents smoothly without shock loading. Whatever was happening in your case obviously resulted in the temporary disabling of these functions.

Like I said if it happends again, you should take it to your dealer within a few days (otherwise the DTCs may eventually be automatically erased from memory) They will pull the DTCs from ALL of the modules to determine what was happening.

What if the ABS light comes on as well? what if it does it multiple times in one day? and what if the Check Engine light comes on as well? Im scheduled to go into the shop allready, but just curious if mabey these are commons problems of something.....

Sorry to bring it back from the grave but its a common problem with what Im having, best search would do me.....

My Traction Control light and ABS are on all the time now, and when lightly brake, Expesically with the Tires turns in sounds like something is comming apart in the front end.

Note, My car was wrecked with MAJOR front end suspension damage but the dealership fixed it.....Its going in, in the morning to be looked at, but Im looking for mabey a cause of this.....

I had this problem happen to me as well but only after i had done the intake mod on my 2.4......the ABS light never came on but i did eventually throw a "lean" code and had the t/c light with erratic shifting.......put the stock intake back on and havent had the problem since.......there is something to do with the MAF sensor seeing too much air or over turbulant air, that is all i know........sorry if i cant help more......Later
