Spark Plugs

Trying to replace the spark plugs on my 06 SS/SC
Tried the following spark plug sockets
5/8 Too Big
9/16 Too Small
15mm Too Small

How am I suppose to get them off if none of the above worked? I thought they were suppose to be 5/8

they are 5/8 but you need a socket for dual overhead cam motors. oreilly auto parts carries them. it is a much thinner socket.

5/8 has always worked for me. My last no-name socket set came with a 5/8 deep socket specifically for spark plugs in general and it worked on my 06 ss/sc and my 08 lnf.

Edit:

Get one of these and use it with a 12" extension

Spark Plug Replacement
Removal Procedure
Notice: This engine has aluminum cylinder heads. Do not remove the spark plugs from a hot engine, allow it to cool first. Removing the spark plugs from a hot engine may cause spark plug thread damage or cylinder head damage.

Remove the ignition coils . Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement .

Important: Remove any water and debris from the spark plug holes before spark plug removal with compressed air.

Remove the spark plugs with a spark plug socket.
Inspect the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Inspection .
Installation Procedure
Gap the spark plug, using round wire type spark plug gap gage.
Gap
Adjust the spark plug gap to 1.14 mm (0.045 in).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Important: DO NOT coat the spark plugs with anti-seize compound. Over torquing could occur and damage to the cylinder head threads may result.

Install the spark plugs with a spark plug socket.
Tighten
Tighten the spark plugs to 20 Nˇm (15 lb ft).

Install the ignition coils .

Only change your spark plugs if you absolutely have to do it. Most people change spark plugs and notice a small bump in performance, but those aftermarket plugs simply don't last as long as GM's plugs, and the benefit may only be the difference between what you lost on yours and what your car was when delivered.
