do yourself a favor - buy all new wiring harnesses out of the wrecker/dismantler ~ trying to repair wiring ~ and chasing electrical issues is going ot be a MAJOR pita...

at least that's my two cents.

Sorry to see about this though.

Thats what I plan on. Theres a junkyard with an 06 LS cobalt...I dunno if the wire harness will be the same between an 06 and an 08 but its worth a try anyway...

do yourself a favor;
go to a gm dealer;
head straight to the part department;
tell them your situation;
get them to pull up the part number for your engine & headlight wriring looms;
see if they interchange with an '06 of the same model...

they should also be able to print off an exploded diagram of how to R&R it...

many people don't realize just how helpful GM part departments can be...

I mean you no offense - but if I were the OP, I'd put on an SS/2.4 bumper... cost should be exactly the same...

unless of course he finds an absolute smoking deal on a base bumper.

Well on ebay the base bumper comes out to 140 plus 140 shipping, the ss bumper is 350 plus shipping...still leaning towards the ss bumper...lol

forget ebay.

buy from car-part.com ~ or find a dismantler in your area that can get one.

it's a 2005-2010 part...

If you are able to diagnose how this happened, let us know, mainly want to know so I can make sure the HID conversions I've done don't suffer the same fate or it's my ass on the line.

Yeah I know the bumper is universal thru all years, but finding one at a junkyard here in hawaii will be next to impossible. Right now there is only one junkyard with a cobalt and its a base model

Wow, this sucks man. Didnt your halo ballast blow the fuse? why was it powered on anyway? Id ditch that Morimoto HID harness while youre at it, and seriously consider a new wiring system for halos next time, that or go LED.

This is another reason why good wiring and good fuses are important.
I did this just with a heat gun.....wire on the right is from the Morimoto relay harness. But its the same type of **** you you get in every other foreign harness and 99% of the wire at Walmart and AutoZone/Advance Auto/PepBoys/OReilly/Kragen/Canadian Tire/etc...........

I have a factory airbox you can have, and probably an intake too. I know Ive got headlights I could hook you up with too when you get to that point. Id BE SURE to buy your neighbor some beer or a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant. They would be my new best friend

So It looks like I need to get a whole new intake....The pipe is in good condition but every other piece is pretty much destroyed, and the only one that looks like I can replace is the filter... Oh well...

I ordered a new SS bumper and a new headlight bracket over the weekend. Gonna go to the junkyard this week some time this week to see what I can get...

I would have cried if I wasn't so zonked out on cold meds....

The hood and fender looks like it should be salvagable...just needs some sanding and a repainting. And a couple of my neighbors will be getting a visit by the beer fairy

I ordered a new SS front bumper and a new headlight bracket over the weekend. Gonna go to the junkyard this week to try and get most of the other parts I know that I need...Wish me luck!!

So most parts are ordered. The main thing I need that I can't find is the stock headlight/foglight wire harness. The one that goes from the fuse box to both headlights, foglights, and airbag sensor. If anyone can find one for me, let me know!

youre gonna need to buy that new or find a wrecked car. or just repair it.....is it just the wiring for the headlights that burned? or did it get other wires too. I could make you a section of harness that you could splice into the stock harness. OEM connector, wire, conduit, etc....let me know exactly what you need.
