Sputtering upon startup ss/sc

Hey guys,
My cobalt is sputtering upon startup. The rpms will hardly jump, and the boost gauge will reach about -5 to 3 lbs for a second. This will happen mostly during the days first startup, and only for about 10-15 seconds. The car will work it's way from ~1450 rpm to settle at about ~950. If the car is warm the amount of sputtering is substantially lower, minimal.
Just curious about what's going on.. Please feel free to ask for addition details.

Thank you everyone!

you will have to look at live data to properly diagnose the issue. Clean both like they say for now.

There is no real fuel sensor in our cars. However, fuel pressure is being monitored. Clean your mass air flow and throttle body for now. see what happens. if that does not work you will have to check the live data that the computer sees from the Throttle position and the amount of air the computer sees from the MAF sensor.

I would go with the 2 suggestions above. Check the MAF sensor on your intake, clean that with the MAF cleaning spray you can buy. and clean your throttle body.

There are a lot of things that "shouldn't" happen yet they do. Not to discredit your fathers knowledge but I'm sure some ppl on the forums know a hell of a lot about these engines, and a dirty throttle body causing problems on a LSJ is common.

I clean mine once or twice a year just as general maintenance.

You have a supercharged car right? The throttle bodies on these cars tend to get real dirty.

your car is shooting lean real quick and once your o2 sensor kicks on it adjusts fuel, as to why it just randomly started this, most likely maf related

Not if you've never done it before.

Gotta remove the headlight & headlight bracket to get at it.

Sometimes the headlight is a bitch to wiggle out.

OP, work on it some night after work. Take your time, and make sure to disconnect your battery before messing with the MAF sensor.

Hey guys,
So last night me and my dad tried to clean the Maf...

Remember, I have an injen cai that was on the car when I bought it. Basically, the sensor is not hooked up, or missing. The one wire just dangles there.
