Squeaks!
Squeaks!
I notice squeaks when I'm at low speeds (possibly just because it's quieter). It's mostly if not always when the wheel is turned a little. I thought at first it was due to going over bumps that it would make the noise, but it seems to happen on flat surfaces when I'm going slow and turning the wheel back and forth. It goes squeak-squeak-squeak rather than squeeeeeeeeeeak. My brakes also squeak but that's possibly a separate issue. Could it be that my brake pads need replacing? Or would that not have anything to do with the wheel being turned? The squeak happens with no braking applied.
The brake pads squeak regardless of old or newness. The dealership told me the squeak from them is considered "normal" (which I find unacceptable, and I won't be buying another chevy). I've seen from guys around here that they also have issues. My solution will probably be to just replace the pads with ceramic pads and maybe get slotted rotors. I've tried new pads, machining the rotors, all with very temporary success. They said a glaze keeps building up from me braking hard (of course they try to blame it on me). I've tried seating the brakes in, and this happens whether they're old or new or what not, so unless the dealership is incompetent at installing brake pads, which I doubt, that's what I'll have to do.
But I'm really more worried about this new squeak which happens at low speed especially when turning the wheel. Do the brakes ever cause squeaking even when not applied? If not, what else can squeak on a car in this sort of low speed situation? Suspension?

mine has started doing the same thing! I have heard there is a squeak sensor on the break pads that squeaks when they are needing to be replaced and that it will do it even if the breaks are not applied.
It almost sounds like the wheel needs lube because its only at low speeds and its a chime squeak instead of a constand one. Im at 45K miles with stock pads so im about to replace them anyway. Hope it fixes the problem.
