Belt squeak?

Well I got my 2.9" pulley put on...drove it for a day and it did fine...I decided to drive it the next day got in drove it a bit, kidna got on it hard and then I noticed while crusing around town I was getting a squeaking noise from under the hood. I went home while idiling it didn't do it, when I revved up though sure enough I heard a squeak squeak squeak under the hood...I opended the hood and tried to pin point it.

It sounds deffintly like belt squeak but if so woudln't it do it at idle as well? I just hope I didn't burn the S/C up and the bearings are going bad, but I don't see that as plausible since I really did not drive it "that hard" with the 2.9" yet. Just sucks to have this problem and also I leaky GMPP exhaust that I have to get welded instead of clamped soon. Good thing this isn't my DD for right now.

I am just guessing, but when you took the belt off and put it back on do you think there is any way that you damaged the tensioner? If the tensioner for some reason was not functioning properly then you could have the symtoms you are talking about.

Okay, I will try turning the belt aruond and making sure all the ribs match up and whatnot...just hope the tensioner isn't bad and I am just praying that the bearings are not bad in the s/c snout.

Going to work on it as soon as I have time tuesday, been severly busy with work, just got a breather today and didn't feel like fooling with it. What could cause one side of the belt to go bad anyways?

Pulley misalignment,Take a good look at the new pulley or use a scale to see if they are inline.
For the chirping while the car is idling rub a bar of soap on the edge and go for a drive if the chirping goes away its definitly rubbing somewhere, the soap trick doesnt last long though.
Was the pulley pressed on if so ,its either on to far or not enough, my guess would be not far enough.

I have inspected the belt and it looks fine to me, just have to take it off and inspect it closer...since I do have a DD I will not dick around about it and if it needs to be replaced I will do so.

It was one of nate's pulleys which uses the GM stage 2 hub.

Stage 2 belt right, could be a tension issue, try a search on the smallest pulley with the stage 2 belt before you need to do something with the tensioner.
I think there were post to on that subject.
