Squeaky trim piece?

SOB! The silver trim piece along the passenger side dash that has the SS emblem on it is starting to squeak. Sounds like it is the clips that are holding it in that are squeaking. Anyone have an easy fix? I am thinking of small pieces of cloth over the holes where the clips go and then popping it back in.

you know, I was sitting at a drive thru last night and I noticed that the door trim can vibrate and make the dash rattle (I broke the clip on the driver side by the trunk release and it rattles occasionally). Try putting something, like a small piece of felt/rubber/foam between the door and the trim piece for the dash. Just a thought....

That's not where the problem is. I imagine that behind that dash piece that has the SS emblem on it are a couple of holes and attached to the trim piece are a couple of clips. The piece just snaps into the holes in the dash. The clips are squeaking on the edges of the holes.

I didn't think so, it was a shot....I figured it might help. I think there is a pic on here where someone removed that trim piece. I think they explained it in a thread too...

I own a Base 2 door model 2005 And I hade a same sound from my dashboard right head trim. DO NOT REMOVE IT since it's will get more rattle and squick sound. I have removed my and then strached the plastic things that clips attached to. I have brought the car to my dillership and asked them to exchange for the new one (the whole right head trim). They have done it in front of me. But the same sound have came back. I have found where that sound came from. If you open your passenger door you gonna see round plate that covers the side of your dashboard. using your fingers pull it out a little and place a double sided foam tape(availble at any hardvare store). But be careful do nnot pull it of complitly since clips may brake in to the plastic then it gonna rattle.
I hope it will work

Sorry about my english. I hope it's clear

The problem with squeaks is that they don't always come from where you think. I had a squeak in my SS and it sounded like it was in the dash. Nope. It was actually the clips in our console around the e-brake. When I threw in the arm rest I put electrical tape on all the clips. Put it back together and end of "dash board" sqeak. Last week it came back slightly so I applied pressure in the same area around the e-brake and it stopped. I let go it started again. So before taking anything apart push down around your e-brake while the car is running\moving. This may be all it is.

GM IS SO CHEAP on a foam tape when they have assembled our cars. That is why our cars chipper then Civic Corolla and Jetta.
I have seen a post in a news paper that say. Come and test drive the Cobalt then get $100 if you buy a Corolla. I better give them a $100 so my interior not rattle.
