Thumbs down Ray Price Chevrolet Rant

This is why I hate the stealerships. Horrible service once again, never fails.

Ray Price Chevrolet, Mount Pocono, PA:

As most of you know, I just recently graduated from the police academy, well while being in academy I've had several issues with my car but being that I was there 40 hours a week and working 44 hours a week on top of that, I couldn't ever get to the stealership so I figured I'll just get all the issues resolved once I graduate.

So I graduated on Friday the 20th. Now finally opened up 40 hours a week to do stuff that I got to get done. I figured "Okay sometime this week I'll make my way over to the stealership to get these issues warrantied, no rush, warranty is still good until 2013".

Sunday night comes, I'm pulling into my firehouse parking lot, go to turn off the car, no bueno... Key stuck in the ignition (had a thread for that). So that just speeds up my whole point of getting to the stealership and is inconveniencing me at that time. Now I go home, stall out my car and unplug the battery in order to preserve it until the morning to be able to start the car up and get it to service.

Monday morning, wake up bright and early, get myself some DD coffee and drive over to Ray Price Chevrolet by opening (9am). Upon arrival I speak to a "Service Manager" letting him know that I'm unable to turn off my car, key is stuck in the ignition, as well as I want to get my car checked for several other problems.

1. E-brake cable loose, doesn't lock rear tires when parked.
2. Infamous obnoxious steering column rattle (TSB out for it)
3. Rear clunking on turns, feels like something pops in and pops out once the turn is completed (TSB out for it)
4. Headlights have a lot of moisture in them, constantly fog up.
5. CEL for a bad rear o2 sensor.

He says he'll get everything checked out and since it's under warranty it won't be an issue to fix. He tells me it's going to take a while since there are several issues and I tell him that I'll be needing a rental to get to work and back, so he gets me a rental. At this point I'm driving a rental and hoping to hear back about my car later on during the day. Nothing.

Monday ends, no word, Tuesday comes... still driving a rental, no word from the stealership. I figured they ordered parts and going to get everything straightened out so no big deal. End of Tuesday I get a call to come in and pick up my car, everything has been done.

I head over to the car rental place to drop the car off and have them give me a ride back to the stealership. Once I get to the stealership the "service manager" hands me the keys to my car and says it's parked up front, everything is good. I thank him and go out to my car, see that the headlights still have water in them and haven't been replaced, that automatically ticks me off so I figure I'm just going to get in the car and come back another day instead of going back and ripping someone a new one. I get into my car and start driving out of the place on their awesome unpaved parking lot, ALL of the clunks and rattles are STILL there, NOTHING has been fixed.

Okay well now I'm pissed off, I pull around, park the car, go inside to speak to the "service manager" and tell him that nothing has been fixed other than the ignition issue. He replies saying "we didn't find any problems". That's after I gave him a list of things he wrote down and them having the car for 2 days. So I ask him to have someone come take a ride with me and he tells me to come back next week and they'll look at it (it's Tuesday). So my response to that is "Can you look at it today so that way you can order parts if there any that need to be ordered and I'll come back next week to get it fixed?" he responds with "uhh I'll have a tech take a ride with you".

So now the tech gets into my car and take a ride with me, I take him over bumps to show him the rattling and clunking in the rear while turning. His diagnosis is for steering wheel rattle is "well my girlfriend's 07 LT has that steering wheel rattle so I figured it's just normal with these cars". For rear clunking his diagnosis was "I think that's just the suspension travel". At that point I can tell he is incompetent of getting anything diagnosed or even looked at. I pull back into the dealership with the car making all the noises, park the car and get out along with the tech to show him the headlights, he takes couple of minutes staring at them and says "yeah that's not bad" and walks away. So I walk back up to the front desk to talk to the "service manager" and he tells me there's nothing he can do and if I want him to put my car up on a lift and look at it then I have to come next week for them to just take a look at it. At that point I'm already aggravated so I just leave, figuring maybe another stealership will help me out with my issue.

I get in the car and start driving home, stop by Wal-Mart and give Gray Chevrolet in Stroudsburg, PA a call and explain them the situation, the service person automatically transfers me to some lady which tells me the following "well, the headlights won't be warrantied because they have to be filled with water for GM to warranty them, as in for CEL it's probably an animal that crawled into your car and chewed on your wires so that's not covered under warranty either, the clunking noise might be but I'm not sure, if you drop the car off tomorrow at 2pm I don't think we'll be able to figure out what's wrong until 5pm so I'm going to need to keep it for a couple of days to look at it" so I reply to her about possibly getting a rental car since 3 hours isn't enough to diagnose a couple of problems with mine and she tells me "well since most of that stuff is probably not warranty then warranty can't cover your rental, you'll have to get one on your own". Well at that point I'm just pissed, I hang up the phone and take a couple of minutes in my car to cool down.

So now I'm aggravated, after dealing with two stealerships it seems that there is no way for me to get warranty work for my car which is a 2010 with 18k, still 18k of warranty and 1 more year left but from what it seems, GM will not honor it.

Another proud GM customer to know that their stealerships will give me a run around and take me for a damn fool any time I go in there. Really sick of idiots working at places like that and not doing their jobs the right way nor wanting to do any quality work and just half ass everything to make money and go home. So here I am left with this car that still has all the issues and if more to come then I guess it'll just burn to the ground since GM doesn't want to fix anything....

Oh and here are some pics of headlights that aren't foggy..

07/30/12 UPDATE:
The above complaint has been formatted and sent to cac@chevrolet.com. Let's see if there is anyone out there who cares about their customers and not try to take them for a bunch of fools.

08/06/12 UPDATE:
Finally got to speak with case person assigned to my case, didn't feel like it got me anywhere, he now transferred the case to a "case specialist" who is supposed to call me back sometime this week.... so now it's just a waiting game again

08/09/12 UPDATE:
I finally get a call from the specialist but I miss it because I was outside installing new spark plugs I got after the Denso plugs incident.

Specialist's name is April, she leaves a voicemail, saying they tried reaching me yesterday (which is nonsense because I had my phone on me all day long and never got any phone calls). I call back about 8-10 minutes later and it goes to voicemail. I wait about 10 more mins and call again, rings and voicemail again. So I leave a voicemail for her, let's see how long it'll take for her to get back to me, I'm starting to get annoyed again.

Oh here's a clip of my new wavepool and a pic of my mobile mold growing facility.

Later that day on 8/9/12:
GM CAC called back, lady was siding with the dealership at first but then I started getting a little pissed off and she became more helpful at that point. She is calling Brown-Daub Chevrolet dealership tomorrow to explain the case and have them look at my car. Let's see how this goes.

08/13/12 UPDATE:
Going to the dealership tomorrow morning. New issue found, Svc Tire Pressure Monitor (fault at driver front tire) keeps coming on and off every couple days and staying around until after a couple of restarts.

Also the mold is spreading:

08/14/12 UPDATE:
Got to wait until Thursday 08/16/12 for an appointment at 8am to get my car looked at.

08/16/11 UPDATE: 3 hours of diagnosis at the Brown-Daub Chevrolet dealership and here are the findings:

UPDATED LIST OF ALL ISSUES:
1) Steering wheel rattle over bumps on rough surfaces at slow speeds. -- New Steering Column Ordered
2) Rear clunking on uneven surfaces -- Blamed on pedders
3) Headlights full of moisture -- New headlights ordered
4) Foglight indicator on dash doesn't turn on -- New cluster panel ordered
5) CEL for rear o2 sensor -- New sensor ordered
6) Driver & Passenger door rubbing against the frame of the car -- Blamed on Coupe design, apparently no fix
7) Svc Tire Pressure Monitor (fault at driver side front) keeps going on every couple days and going off after couple restarts and some driving. -- New sensor ordered

08/21/12 UPDATE: Dropped the car off at Brown-Daub Chevrolet for them to do the work tomorrow (08/22/12)

08/22/12 UPDATE: Picked up the car from Brown-Daub Chevrolet, steering feels great, no more rattling, headlights work perfectly, cluster is displaying that my foglights are on again when I turn them on, no more annoying CEL/MIL, tire pressure monitor hasn't been tripping. Only issue I got to figure out is rear end clunking, nothing in the trunk and I still get it over offset surfaces and sometimes on sharp turning. Going to have to figure that out sometime but for now I'm definitely satisfied.

Oh and let me quote Ray Price Chevrolet for the last time, "Nothing is wrong."

Yeah those headlight's aren't bad at all. That's how they must have looked when the car rolled of the assembly line.

All I want is for some one to put the damn car on the lift, figure out the issue, order the parts and put them in under warranty.... To be honest, I'd even be satisfied if they just ordered the parts and handed them to me and I'd go home and fix it my damn self.

Yeah well you can't find stuff if you don't look. There are TSBs for my issues, therefore it's a common problem and tells them exactly what to look for, they just don't feel like looking apparently... and Grey Chevrolet diagnosed everything over the phone without even bothering to look at my car. CEL = Animals chewing wires

Where is that GM customer service rep that is a member on here. I would love to see what she has to say about this. My suggestion if you can't find another dealership is contact GM directly to file a complaint about these dealerships. Or you could find talk to the owner of these dealerships, write some bad reviews on local websites and stuff.

whenever i know of a TSB i either look it up and provide gm with a number or tell them what to look for in the TSB's

if they don't want to do the work .. do it for them.

I let him know about it once I gave him the list of things wrong to reassure him that others are experiencing these issues as well and there are fixes for it. Sarah posted in my other thread and I linked her to this one so hopefully she'll be able to help me out with this situation. I usually work on all of my cars myself because I'm sick of getting low quality service, I'll take my time and do it right and double check everything myself but at this point in the game I just don't want to spend money on the parts that should be covered by warranty. Like I said I'd be more than glad if they just gave me the parts and I'd fix it myself.

quick fix for the headlights: Remove each headlight, remove one of the bulbs and take a hairdryer and blow hot air inside until they are completely dry inside (usually takes about 30 minutes). Take a bead of clear silicone and run it all the way around where it seals. May look a little messy but once installed you won't see it at all. Betcha it won't leak anymore or fog up! Cost you about 10 bucks in supplies and a couple hours.

Thanks man, I have opened up my 05's LS headlights and painted them black so I've been through the process. The whole thing is they keep bragging about their warranty and since I still have mine, I want it honored and I want things repaired because I damn well know that once warranty runs up I'm going to start dumping cash into fixing things on my own, I LOVE the car, but we all can agree on that the build quality is poor.

Just call GM customer care they are on top of their ****. When I bought my new 2012 GMC Terrain SLT2 AWD I had my Nav unit **** the bed within 2 days of owning it. It was on a weekend when it happened so no dealerships were even open and I was out of town to top it all off. I called onstar to see if they could run a check and find something wrong with it and they directed me to GM customer care, where I got my own agent to asked which dealership it would be serviced at come monday so they could call and have everything arranged a head of time and have regular updates on the status of everything. It was incredible, every day i would get a call from them with a service update before my dealership would call me, and they called the dealer everyday too. My dealer didnt even know they existed until. The service manager said it was the first time in there 20 years of business that they had them call them. The require all dealerships to answer directly to them and they call you back to make sure the dealership is holding up its end of the deal.

I love my cobalt and never really had that many problems (except for ic pump, thermostat and sway bar bushings), but seeing all these other peoples problems over the years I'll probably never buy another gm car.

Aah! Sorry I'm so late! Was out for a week and have been playing catchup since Saturday with a messed up hand (souvenir from my trip). I'm glad to see you've already contacted us via email - have you heard back by now? I am scheduled off tomorrow but will be back in on Thursday at 2:30 pm EST for the 2nd shift. Let me know your case number, or if I can get one set up for you.
