stock air filter

this is a question for anybody that has taken the air filter out to change it or to mod it to the k&n or other filter.... my question is im up to 18k miles on my ss/sc, and ive not looked at this filter to see if it might need replacing, do to its ez access location. this car has not seen any dirt roads, just asphalt, and i know the recommended time is 30k miles, but i like to know if anybody noticed if thiers was pretty dirty or not and at what milage when it was replaced or when it was looked at, that might help me to determine if i need to change mine early, not getting cai until warrenty is up. thanks

i think air filter change is like a 30k service, so you should be fine. however, cleaning and/or replacing your air filter always helps improve performance and gas mileage. so it's never a bad idea.

The location of the air box on these cars also eliminates alot of larger debris that other cars might see.

I looked at mine at 5700 miles and it looked new.

Just an FYI, it's a pain in the ass to change the filter.

i usually change my filters every 10k miles due to the high dust environment here. I changed the filter in my wifes truck at 20k miles, and it looked like someone dipped it in a mudhole.

I changed mine at 15,000 miles... It had been through two hurricanes and a shitload of dusty roads since I owned the car... I pulled it, looked new, still changed it anyway.

What I want to know is how do you guys with the SS 2.0L change your oil filter? There's no room between it and the supercharger!
