Sunroof half setting stopped working

Has anyone else had the half setting on their sunroof stop working? Now, when I push the button in partway it does nothing. This used to pop up the sunroof without actually sliding it back. If I push the button in all the way the thing still opens and closes though...

Would this be something that is covered under warranty?

Yupp..

Does your sunroof move when all windows are closed and you shut a door? Mine would pop up from the pressure.

I complained and they said they had to replace the carriage system that there was a lock tab or something missing.

I also told them that sometimes the button would not always work. I noticed that the switch was on an angle..

They ended up changing the entire switch.

Hope this helps

I'm assuming you tried cycling it full open and closed once or twice?? Sometimes the programming catches it half open or something, I have had that happen, but usually if I fully open and close it, then it starts working again.

Half setting? Okay, I got my car in Feb 07, but as far as I knew, the Sunroof toggle switch is either fwd or backward. If I let it go it stops, if that's what you mean by "Half setting"

I hadn't actually but thanks for the idea. I'll give it a try when I drive to work this morning.

More on the half setting that someone asked about. When you push the button just a little bit it will "vent" the sunroof but not actually push it back. This is the setting I use most often so I really hope it isn't messed up!

Update - I tried opening and closing the thing several times on my way to work today and didn't notice a change. I was going to take it to the dealership after work today but after I left work I tried again and now everything works. I guess it was the combination of opening and closing as well as the key cycle. Anyways, everything seems to be back to normal now.

Mine has been doing the same **** since last october. Went to the dealer and the damn thing worked when I got there. The tech greased everything and said you are all set, worked for about 4 months and did it again yesterday, today it works. my switch is also setting lopsided I guess I will have to take it back YAAAAAAA!!!!

They need to do a recall on the DAMN thing because I am tired of the ****!!!

doubt they'd do a re-call on something intermittent like that, they'll say something like "you must be smashing on the button to open the sun roof, you broke it" lol

If you have an '05, there is a recall on the sunroof button. Just take your car in and complain that the button fell off and you had to press it back on, or that it was crooked like that. There is a bulletin for all 05s with that problem to update the design.

If your switch is crooked like mine I bet its in the switch, just guessing.

Okay, a little off topic but...
Can someone tell me, when the sunroof is 'totally' open, does about 1/4 of the glass still stick out of 'the car' and not go all the way inside? It seems mine only pushes 3/4 of the way in...? Or is this normal. I want MORE SUN

Wow. I really didn't explain properly! Yah, your right it goes inside the car I guess I meant that only 3/4 of it pushes back and that 1/4 of it is still visible inside the car. Okay, so that's normal then. Thanks for replying.

Knock on wood I have no problems with my sunroof. Except I'd like MORE SUN!! But then that's why they invented convertibles.
