Supercharger?

The Supercharger on my cobalt has made a slight grinding noise since I bought it new. It now has around 3800 miles on it and the grinding noise from the supercharger has got to a point that you can hear it without popping the hood now. Is this normal? This car is my first time messing with superchargers,(I have always worked with turbo's) so I don't know what to expect with it. Any input would be helpful.

Mines the same way. Until I start losing boost or performance I'm not worrying about it. I just got told today by an ASE mechanic that it's a completely normal noise. These are noisy blowers or so I'm told.

Glad to see I'm not the only one, I have wanted to listen to another cobalt ss/sc at idle but I am the only one in my area

Uhhh....That's NOT normal. There have been more than a few people here who have had blowers replaced under warrenty due to bearings going out. I'd take it to the dealer and have them check it out b/c if you get metal shavings into your motor....that's def. not a good thing.

Watching vid now...

Mine pops between first and second sometimes. i wouldn't worry too much about it as long as it doesn't get too bad

You're going to the thread I posted and then you're right clicking on the part that says "Supercharger noise on my 06"? That's the link to the video, just right click and save target as. If you're not getting to the thread I have no idea what it would be.

If I run into any problems I'll post it up on that thread, but I'm not losing boost and someone with alot more know how than me told me it was completely normal.

yea i wouldn't worry to much about it. if you get your car tuned they may be able to help with that by changing the timing alittle but it's really no biggie

To be honest, the louder that noise gets the better my car runs(Faster). But it is sweared by many that your car will run the best right before it goes
