I changed my thermostat this last weekend, it's a pain.

I did not drain the cooling system, just unbolted the thermostat housing and let the coolant drain there. It will make a bit of a mess, but it isn't the end of the world.

I used a 3" and 10" 1/4" drive extensions along with a deepwell and regular 10mm socket. You will also need a swivel adapter.

If I had to do it again, I would pay the dealer to change it for me. It wasn't worth the hassle for me for only $350

I got to it from the passenger side of the car, and the back side of the motor. I did everything on the ground, and it didn't require me to unhook or unplug any senors or hoses. It will require to you feel your way around, as you won't be able to see much. I know some people remove the fuse box and go in from the drivers side, but I can't give you any guidance on how to do that.

It's a tight fit, you will get frustrated, but it is doable. Maybe I was being a little over the top before, I wouldn't pay $350, but if it was under $200 I won't even think about doing it myself, lol.
