Timing chain

How can I tell if my timing chain is crapping out or if its my pulley making a really weird clicking noise under acceleration? Any suggestions? Tried the search button too.

Could be the timing chain tensioner. Can it be replicated when not under load?

No, but sometimes I can hear it for a split second on start up.

If you want to know if it's a pully, simply take the belt off your car and crank it, it will run for a few moments, enough time to tell if you still hear the sound, if you don't then it's a pulley, if you do then it's something in your engine.

Took it to the dealer a week or so ago. Turns out it was the catalytic converter that went out. They replaced it for free. Sounds like it doesn't have COPD anymore.
