Exclamation Tire wear issues!

Yeah, i have problem keeping rubber on the tires. It seems like, when i want to go somewhere, i do, and the rubber just gets left behind! Like its not supposed to be on there or something!
Good thing this car is FWD or there would seriously be no rubber on my tires!

I hear BFGoodrich GForce KDW's offer more help. I'll get a set of those in a year or so.

yeah i dunno. it seems to be a big issue with the stock pirelli's especially. i have heard good things about the Kumho Ecsta SPT though. much more reasonable in price too. also the toyo proxes tires, but i have also heard they are soft. i am liking the dunlop SP. i have been trying to do as much research as i can on tires since they are expensive and dont seem to last like you say on these cars. even the service manager at my dealer said he has been hearing a lot of complaints about that.

The SS has softer tires, which makes them grip better than say a truck tire, but the tire life drops to around 40 K miles, and thats without spining them ever.

You can get a harder tire, but the car will not stick as well as it does on the stock tires.

well, i just replaced the stock pirellis at 25,500 miles. they were to the wear bars. pretty impressive i say for tire life...not lol...i replaced those with a set of Goodyear F1 all season...these are some sweet handling tires. very good in the rain, i found that out today. they are also supposed to be good in light snow, which is good for me living in michigan lol...and they were still cheaper than the pirellis. so far i am happy with them. they even look nice and have a good tread pattern that people like on their performance cars. they were a bitch to mount but other then that i would recommend them to anyone who does all weather driving. the treadwear is a 420 compared to the 200 in the pirellis as well. i went a little wider with the 225/40Z/R18

Yeah, I hate the stock Pirellis. I've had way too much wheelspin, especially when the road is wet. They spin when leaving lights, going up freeway on ramps and a couple of times just going around slow curves when I give it some gas. The tires would be much better if I had the LSD, which I plan to add soon.

I haven't had to replace mine yet, but have looked into replacements. You guys need to go to http:www.tirerack.com. I've never ordered from them but probably will when I need new tires.
The best thing is that they let owners review the different tires, so you can read what other guys say instead of just what the manufacturer says. I've looked at 225/40-18 and Kuhmo has some of the best rated tires in that size, for less than $100 a pop. That's about half of what the Pirellis cost. They are softer for better traction but still cost less in the long run, and I want the better traction of a softer tire.

Again I've never bought from Tire Rack but they come highly recommended.
