Tranny Mount Shattered

I am just out right now changing my oil, when I noticed an entire section of my transmission mount is missing, It's pretty obvious that a large rock or something must have hit it and shattered the mount.

I'm scheduled to take it into the dealer on monday, I'm sure they'll try to blame it on me somehow

i totally wouldn't be surprised if they see moded balts and look online to see if they say stuff they did...

But thatd doesnt even make any sense, i have an auto, how could the engine possibly have enough power to shatter the mount under any conditions?

Any comments anyone?

Does anyone have any idea how much it will cost to replace if the dicks refuse to warranty it

Tranny mounts for the m5 are only 149.99.

My camaro (which was an auto) used to break a mount every 6 months or so. They were only $25.55-$40.00

Depending on where I bought em. If they refuse to warrenty it.(not sure if warrenties cover road hazard. Might need to talk to your insurance if you going the I hit a rock route) It shouldnt cost to much to fix.

Welll, a new tranny mount from GMpartscheap is 60 bucks, I wonder how hard it would be to buy and install it myself if the dealer pulls some bullshit on me

Anyone got any experience installing tranny mounts? how hard is it?

I've installed on my camaro. Really easy. Just put a jack on the tranny. unbolt the mount. Jack the tranny up just a bit. Install new one. 15-20 minues.

I doubt they'll give you the run around on this one, but good luck on it

Well, if they do, It shouldnt be too difficult to replace myself.

One of my friends the works at a custom fab shop for car parts is trying to talk me into making a custom solid tranny mount (I have Machine Shop experience)

I'm not sure yet though

I remember sitting in English this morning thinking "Man, today's Friday the 13th of October, what could possibly go wrong?" The was obviously sarcastic, but it really did happen, and its kinda ironic

well sir your aftermarket intake caused this problem the added hp to the engine makes it pick up faster and this caused enough power for a rock to crush your engine mount. because the intake is an aftermt part this will void your warranty. we will service the car for a hourly labor charge plus parts and taxes, if you would like to contest the issue please call our toll free number and have a nice day..................... yo bro i hope u can get that fixed man im still waiting for this down pipe and im about to post about cobalt addiction taking forever and a day its ok the party must go on mabe u can come to the new years one lol

That is unreal. I have never seen that before. Must have been quite an impact.

I personally believe that mount DOES have some structural weaknesses in the areas where it breaks. I've seen a few of these now- but usually on the SS/SC that's been driven HARD!
Hopefully there will be a TSB or something but either way you will likely have to pay to have it replaced unless it's under warranty and they dont play the "abuse" card.

EDIT: Since there's visually some indications that you "bottomed" onto something - the rusted scape markes ont he cradle next to the mount - they will very likely NOT cover it under warranty

Thats so stupid that everything on our cars, including the bolts are sintered, not cast or forged.

Cheap asses

I will probably buy one and replace it myself if they give me bullshit, its $60 for a new mount
