Transmission/Dealership Issue

My fifth gear syncro failed on my way to OK and after arriving I dropped it at the dealership to get fixed under powertrain. That was Feb. 14th and its now a month later and they can't fix the car because there are no forks or syncros for the transmission. There are new transmissions they can put in... What can I do? I don't even have a loaner car... Can I tell them to look into replacing the transmission? A member here had a similar situation back in Oct. and they ended up replacing his transmission because the parts weren't available.

Raise hell.

Start firmly and calmly. Explain to them you don't have a car and need this one fixed. Tell them you need it fixed ASAP. Call GM customer service if you have to. And ask for alternate transportation while you're waiting for the trans to come in.

They may be able to get you a rental from Enterprise.

GM initially wouldn't want to replace the trans due to the gap between cost to repair vs replace.

However in customer satisfaction situations (IE Parts unavailable) they will authorize transmission replacement when it would otherwise be cheaper to fix the unit.

IMO be nice, just today I went to the dealership because my 2009 g5 was leaking on the tranny cooler lines ( not cover by warranty) I told them I would pay the 120.00 to fix it only 64000km on the car, the service rep told me that because it was only 120.00 he was going to try to get it covered guess what my bill was 0.00. GM IMO is doing everthing they can to gain the trust of customers. So just be nice to them

You catch more flys with honey

i don't understand why people automatically say raise hell. going in being all angry and stuff really gets you no where and just makes the company less likely to help you, start out nice and if the company is still being a jack ass then raise hell.

and congrats on getting the new transmission.

My initial comment was an exxageration.

Of course one should start calmly and being nice about the whole issue... at the same time noone wants to get dicked around while they're out of a vehicle that they're still having to make payments on.

I'm a tech at a dealership so I know what it takes to get things done sometimes. As much as I hate to tell a customer to get sideways with anyone working in customer service... sometimes it needs to happen to get things done.

oh i know i used to be a tech as well and know all about the procedures and what a dealer can and can not do. my statement wasn't directed at you or anyone inparticular more the general public where the first thing a customer does is bitch because they figure they are gonna get some great service out of it.
