Interesting, any signs/symptoms with this other than a lil leaking fluid? My shifts have become less smooth feeling lately and the clutch pedal sqeaks. Would these and your problem be similar?

I think that perhaps GM is having some quality issues with their main transmission seals as of recently. My Dad's '03 Chevy Express had the same problem, with only about 20,000 miles on it the rear main trans seal (its a 4L80E) started leaking pretty bad. After getting it back from the dealership, he checked out the new seal, and it was completely different. Its been good since, so that stock seal design must have been faulty.

This is the first I've heard of any Cobalt's with leaking trans seals though, so perhaps your particular one was just defective from the factory

If he's got less then 3000 miles it's gotta be factory error.

I had one SS/SC come in to my shop around a month ago with a trans leak from the drivers side. I was going to start a thread about it, but realized the explination was tough. Any way the cause was not direct from a bad seal, but rather an extra one. During assembly someone installed a seal that goes on the passangers side, onto the drivers side shaft. This resulted in the axle shaft not seating and locking properly into the trans. Which after 7000 miles desided to leak. The new seals can be obtained from Saturn or Saab, the part #'s are the same for trans axle seals.
