Trunk Sensor

Hi all,

Alright this is a weird one. I as driving the other day while it was raining and then my Trunk light came on as if my Trunk was ajar. Now to my knowledge is wasn't but pulled up to the next set of lights and checked and it wasn't open. So I released my trunk and slammed it shut thinking it was going to go away, go back in my car the light changed and then the stupid trunk light came on again.

I drove home and shut the car off, opened the hood took the fuse out for the trunk sensor and replaced it thinking that could be the issue.

Nope, not this issue, it happened again when it rained the next day...confused as to what it was I tried looking at the sensor in the trunk thinking a wire was undone and I mean cannot find anything.

1 week went by with no rain and no sensor going off...thinking to myself ok, I must have wiggled a cable and made it better...

Then rained again today and the thing went nuts!!! I mean bing, bing bing, bing for like 30 min as I was on my way back from work and it would not stop.

Has anyone any idea what this is...I might need to bring it in for a check-up but tomorrow is Holiday in Canada so it will have to wait until Tuesday..

Anyways if you think you know what is causing this can anyone help?

Thanks

check your wires a again if its not 24/7 and keeps going away and coming back sounds like a loose wire that may be getting moved around while driving. In my cavy a ground in the igntion was loose and sometimes my car wouldnt start but then other times it would...so maybe check your ground. also i dunnno if the rain has anything to do with it but maybe

I did check my wires, nothing seems out of the ordinary. I am going down to Ogdensburg today, I will see if it happens during the trip and will let you guys know....it's nice and sunny now so if it does it we have an issue with rain!

Alright so today very nice day outside...and I took my car to the car wash....to my surprise it hadn't done anything in 1 week so I thought it was ok.

Nope!...as soon as the soap went onto my car the trunk release came on...going nuts again.

I have a video and will post it.

Figured it out!!!!

So I went to get it checked and we figured it out!!!!

The Trunk release wire was ceased and made the connection between the trunk release and the wire not make contact, and when it rained the signal would get interrupted.

WOW .... 30 secs...of labor made my life a whole lot easier!

Cheers and thanks for all the input!
