TSB # for the AC Fogging / leaking

Hey,

I did a search and maybe didn't do it right... but I'll ask anyway..

I was talking to some in my region about people having a "fogging" effect over the vents in the center section of the dash, and they said there is a TSB out for it, as well as the AC system leaking into the cabin.... I didn't have that one... until NOW.

SO... is that 1 TSB,,, or 2?? I need both #'s to go to the dealer with so they can't say "never heard of it"

Thanks

I have the same problem. My ac leaks cold air into the cabin fogging my windshield while off. Happened twice. AC still works when I turn it on. Is this gimping my car?

My AC does the same. "Fog" is coming out of all vents. Until now, I thought it's just some sort of condensation, but you got me worried...I'll have to call my dealer. The AC is working fine, though, especially with the heat we're getting here these days: over 40 degr Celsius!

ya my ac works liek a charm, i notice if i play with the settings it dosnt do it soemtimes, but if i start the car after a long sit, and wanna cool the car down, its instant condensation, no biggie but it would be nice to knwo the dealers know how to deal with this issue, my gfs accent does this on occasion aswell.

On your comment about the vents... that's exactly what mine is doing on the dash. since I'm driving, I can't see where the water is leaking from on the passenger side.

To the comment above about the windows fogging up even when it's off.... every car I've had does that if your airflow setting is to the "defrost" setting and your temp dial is turned all the way to cold. That is just a normal occurance. even when OFF, there is still air flowing thru there. Try putting it to come out the dash vents, and you're going to feel air there, UNLESS you have it set on recirc.. then that's different. I've yet to be able to get mine to stay on that way, and I prefer not to since that will cause mold to grow in the vents over a period of continual use of that "recrircualtion" setting.

It's been so humid here, that if I don't have mine at least on to vent fresh air on the windsheild, it fogs.

Just got off the phone with my dealer - apparently, the fog coming off the vents is normal on humid days. Anyway, he said they'll take a look at it next time I bring the car in for oil change.

I found that the Cobalts don't come with a core screen to correct that. They installed one for me.

TAC wants me to come in to install one on my Sedan.

The best thing you can do is have them put a new HVAC seal on and put a core screen behind the dash to limit how much cold air comes in if your that worried.

I've had fogging occur, but that happens if I have the AC running and the cabin is really cold and I turn off the AC. The sudden humid air running through the AC vents causes condensation to form. This happened on my old car too but it stops once the vents match temps with the outside air.

My question about the AC is, have there been any problems reported where the AC never turned off? I run it till my cabin gets to a comfortable level and then shut it off, just recirculating the air around the cabin to save some gas. The issue is that it keeps getting colder! I'm talking cold to the point where i need to start rubbing my left arm to warm it up. Anyone know anything about that one?

Recirculating the air will infact make it colder. You can't fix that Even on "0" setting it's still running the AC just not the fans so when it recirculates it grabs the air just lingering and pushes it out. A fan always runs when it's in recirculate mode. It's just very quiet..
