Two new Issues Popped up (A/C & Dead Battery)

1.) A/C Releated

I started my car, put the a/c on setting 2... drove around the block about a minute later raised the a/c up to 3. Coming to a stop, clutch in, out of gear, clutch out...

All sounds normal right...
Now, as I start to slow down, the tach drops down to like 500rpms. The car bogged and I immediatly tapped the gas to bring it back to about 1200rpms... when it dropped down to like 500rpms again... I put it in gear and drove away, its seemed ok since then but I have noticed if its come back.

2.) Battery Related

I distinctly remember when I bought my car (ss/sc) that it comes with run-down protection. So no mater what you will always have enough juice to start your car.

My fiance was taking her praxis exam (for becoming a "highly qualified" teacher) so I was sitting in my car, in listening to the radio with the engine off. Stock sound system, no amps or anything. After about 2hrs, I try to start the car and she clicked and fighted, but wouldn't start.

Anyway, I found a cop with one of the Jumper Boxes, and my car started right up as soon as it got the power. Its been fine since (haven't left the radio on like that again) And the battery is totally holding a charge.

A Total WTF experience...

Anybody have any similar experiences?

The radio turns itself off after 10 minutes when the key is out but you are still in the car. That's the run-down protection. If the key is in the 1st position to keep the radio on, it will stay on until you pull the key.

As far as the A/C goes. GM knows about that issue and there is a fix for it in the GM Stage 1 and Stage 2 reflashes. They might even have the fix in the stock reflash. Just go to the dealership and get a reflash done to your computer.

Yep. One of the things on the list after the stage 2 flash is, low idle w\ AC on...don't have the sheet in front of me right now but it was something to that effect.

Interesting...

I might have to make it down to the dealership to see if I can get a re-flash.

Thanks,
Rich

Here it is
12605264- New calibration to address idle stability robustness under heavy A/C load

12605262- New calibraton to address idle stability robustness under heavy A/C load

2 different item #'s with the same description. Whatever the difference between the 2 the idle is better with the A/C on.

yah, battery will die if you leave the key in the start position. it happened to Tim's car when we did his pulley swap but lucky him we had a battery charger (heavy duty industrials strength one) that recharges a car battery in 3 minutes and a Bob cat loader in 10

That was when I got the stage 2 flash done. Ask your dealer if there is an update to the ECM software. It is a fix so you may be able to get it done without the stage kit.
