Upstream O2 in the rear

Is it possible to use an upstream (front) o2 sensor in the downstream (rear) spot? Or do they use opposite connections?

I wish you would have asked this question 45 minutes ago, I just had them both out.

I want to say the connectors are the same because I have heard of people plugging them in wrong, however, I do not think that can interchange.

Did you check the part numbers on them?

From researching, I know the front o2 sensor has some extra magical **** in it that the rear doesnt use, but if I plugged it in the rear, wouldn't it only use what it needs?

On most cars they are interchangeable I'll check the P/N and see.

Assuming these are both true, it wouldnt be hard to make it work.

Lmao

Well I was told the plugs were different from other sources.

I'm going to get a plug until I get the proper one.

She is correct.
Front sensor plug is female connector...
Rear sensor plug is a male connector...

you need to post questions like this in the general section or in the problems and service section not the performance section

If we're talking LNF your upstream is your wideband and your downstream is just a generic o2 sensor. The upstream is a different part and costs a good deal more.

They are 2 different sensors. The front sensor (B1S1) is the Air fuel sensor
The rear (B1S2) is just a normal heated oxygen sensor for post cat readings. They can not be interchanged

You need to stop posting useless posts.

And I got it figured out...

The rear has a male end and the front is a female end.

Ah. Well they're still different, just no wideband. OP should have specified though...there's a picture of a Cobalt with SS/TC wheels in his sig.
